Biography
Dr. Ahmet Aysan is a professor and associate dean of research at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. He has been elected as a full Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) member. He has been the Board Member and Monetary Policy Committee Member of the Central Bank of Turkiye and served as a consultant at various institutions such as the World Bank, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and Oxford Analytica. He was the Deputy Director of the Center for Economics and Econometrics at Bogazici University, a member of the G-20 Financial Safety Net Experts Group, an Advisory Board member of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Group of TUBITAK and a National Expert of the European Union, and the Dean of Management and Administrative Sciences at Istanbul Sehir University. Dr. Aysan is a member of the editorial boards of prestigious international journals and a recipient of the IKAM`s Islamic Economics Research Award, Fintech Researcher of the Year Award of Arab Fintech Forum in 2023, HBKU Research Excellence Award in 2024, Bogazici University Foundation Publication Awards, Bogazici University Foundation Academic Promotion Awards, and the Ibn Khaldun Prize for the best paper on the North African and Middle Eastern Country Studies granted by Middle East Economic Association. He received grants from various international funds, including the QNRI, COMCEC, ERF, Newton funds, and TUBITAK. Dr. Aysan has also served on the Contemporary Turkish Studies advisory board at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) European Institute. Dr. Aysan has been listed among the top Islamic banking and finance influencers in an academic article published in the Pacific-Basin Journal. Dr. Aysan is also a Research Associate at the University College London Centre for Blockchain Technologies (UCL CBT), a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum, the Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis, Digital Euro Association (DEA) and a Non-resident fellow at the ME Council. He also chairs the MENA Chapter Academy of Sustainable Finance, Accounting, Accountability & Governance (ASFAAG).
