Abstract
Plastic waste is becoming a global challenge due to increasing environmental concerns. An immediate shift is required for the global economy towards a circular economy model for plastic waste. The recycling of waste plastic materials is vital to reduce environmental pollution and to save petroleum resources. The development of technologies for successful valorisation of plastic waste into value added chemicals is a thought-provoking challenge of addressing the plastic pollution. The proposal deals with the development of cost-effective thermal and catalytic valorisation technologies for Single Use Plastic Waste Utilisation towards valuable materials, building blocks, ultra-low sulphur fuels and specialty chemicals. The research directions will be pursued towards industrially relevant mechanical and chemical polymer waste recycling pathways for the development of sustainable downstream petrochemical industry and textile products with improved carbon efficiencies.
