Abstract

The project aims at limiting the effect of "fake news" propaganda and media bias by making users aware of what they are reading. By promoting media literacy and critical thinking it assist with deteciting disinformation and "fake news". First created for English texts, Tanbih is now focussed on Arabic language and dialects. The work includes characterization of news outlets based on the factuality of news releases, assessment of the leading political ideology, detection of propaganda, hyper-partisanship, and general frame of reporting (e.g., political, economic, legal, cultural identity, quality of life, etc.).
