Abstract

This chapter discusses the emerging field of health, artificial intelligence (AI) and the law. It explores the history of the field and its continued development in light of the ongoing opportunities and risks posed by AI for health. It presents the logic of the book’s four-part structure, which analyses the uses of AI in health, the legal considerations of AI in health, the ethical perspectives of AI in health and the legal governance of AI worldwide. The authors offer a framework to tie together the different themes arising from the book’s four parts, and they conclude by exploring future directions for the field.
