Abstract

This chapter discusses the need for greater coherence in the development of climate change laws and policy across the MENA Region. It examines the guiding principles and steps for mainstreaming climate change considerations into all aspects of development planning and decision making, in order to effectively anticipate and address short- and long-term impacts of climate change in a holistic manner. It also discusses the need for coherent and holistic legal responses; clear and comprehensive legislation; institutional coordination; and increased climate financing, as essential steps for advancing legal preparedness for climate change across the MENA Region.
