Abstract

Presentation of a flowsheet for the production of nylon-6. Also discussed are the chemical engineering principles involved in the process. The process is divided into a number of operations including reaction kinetics and reactor design, heat transfer, fluid flow, size reduction, solvent extraction, evaporation, drying and safety, specialized aspects of plant design are discussed to demonstrate how the industry handles a highly viscous material.
