Abstract

The possibility of obtaining self-pumped continuous-wave optical parametric oscillation in Yb3+-doped lithium niobate codoped with MgO was investigated. The study revealed that a single bulk crystal of periodically poled lithium niobate containing Yb ions functioned as an optical parametric amplifier and generated a signal wave at 1360 nm. The oscillator was pumped by laser emission at 1063 nm by Yb ions in the crystal.
