Abstract

There is a minor wording error in the explanation of Tables 1 and 2 on page 4587. Previous Version: “After a vessel leaves port, it travels in an RSZ, during which it uses a lower load factor and consumes less fuel, thereby emitting fewer pollutants, than when traveling at cruising speed. It will pass through an RSZ before hoteling at the port of destination.” Revised Version: “After a vessel leaves port, it travels with the same load factor and speed. However, the load factor during hoteling is reduced to 0.19 for transoceanic freight ship and 0.26 for transoceanic tanker.”
