Abstract

Phononic properties of photonic crystal fibers (PCF) with one or two coupled cavities made of silica were investigated. Finite-difference time domain methods (FDTD) were used to solve the elastic wave equation. The results show that transmission spectrum of acoustic waves through a photonic crystal fiber are very sensitive to the geometrical and physical parameters of the structure. It was also found that the behavior of the localized modes helps in the interpretation of acousto-optical experiments.
