Abstract
This opinion paper covers the current scenario and the challenges of using oil absorbents from plastic wastes in a short manner. It is anticipated that this work will help as a quick directive to support novel and exciting ideas in the field. A brief background information about the topic is first discussed. It is followed by key aspects that are well developed in existing literature are presented, which include types of plastic waste, oil spill removal techniques, and oil absorbent production techniques using plastics and polymers. At the end, future prospects to advance in this field have been briefly pointed out.
