Abstract

This paper introduces RasPiPCloud, a Raspberry PI based low cost and light weight personal cloud that allows the user to gather, store and share their data as well as run a range of everyday services in a fully private manner while retaining complete control and ownership of their data. Each Raspberry PI runs an operating system virtual environment hosting multiple distinct services that the user can use in their everyday life such as Personal Social Network and Health Care dashboard application. Sensing devices and mobile phones can be connected to the Raspbery PI in a variety of ways including wireless ad hoc, WiFi, PAN or GSM communication protocols in order to allow gathering, viewing and sharing of data from anywhere.
