N2 - In this paper, we studied the effect of the user mobility parameters on the quality of service parameters of guard channel policy; namely: new call blocking probability and handoff call blocking probability. The high-way mobility model was utilized to define the traffic parameters of the user in terms of its mobility parameters, namely; average velocity of the user and the radius of the cell. The mathematical equations of the new call blocking probability and handoff call blocking probability were derived and solved iteratively. The results show that the value of the new call blocking probability is lower and that of the handoff call blocking probability is higher when compared with the case of non-mobile users. In addition, there exists a critical value; defined by the user mobility parameters; where the behavior of the new and handoff call blocking probabilities differs in a distinct way.
