Abstract

Dependence of rejection factor (RF) on bulk flow (pressure) is studied in the ultrafiltration of aqueous solutions of nonionic organics of various molecular weight. It is shown that this dependence is in agreement with that predicted on the basis of a small-pored membrane model. It is observed that in order to plot the curves of molecular-weight rejection of membranes one should use RF values corresponding to the maximum (or asymptotic). These curves are presented for cellulose acetate, polysulfonimide, and core membranes of Soviet production.
