Abstract

Ambient oxygen concentration was found to have a remarkably large influence on the fatigue properties of Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 films. The onset of fatigue testing was sharply peaked with respect to ambient pO2. These results are consistent with one proposed mechanism of fatigue involving oxygen vacancies.
