Abstract

Green buildings are environmental-friendly designs that use site, energy, water, and all other resources efficiently. The increased awareness and related regulatory amendments produce an increase in green building activity. The construction elements used in green buildings play a critical role on the level of eco-friendliness. Especially the petroleum-based insulation products, which are hazardous to nature, are critical parameters in green buildings. In this work the green building trend, bio-based insulation products used in the green building and traditional construction industry, the bio-based fire-retardant types, and their future use were summarized and reported.
