Abstract

The mechanism of adsorption of two basic dyes onto activated carbon for effluent treatment has been studied using agitated batch adsorption data. An intraparticle diffusion rate parameter, k, has been defined as the slope of the plot of amount of dye adsorbed per unit mass of carbon versus the square root of time. This parameter has then been correlated against the system variables of initial dye concentration, carbon particle size and carbon mass by means of an equation. There are 11 references.
