Abstract
Islam's growth from a primordial religious community with a modest number of believers in the Arab peninsula to a world religion boasting approximately one billion adherents has been rapid and continues to be so in the twenty first century. Perhaps the most surprising statistic, however, is that, despite its Arab origins, around 85% of the world's Muslims exist in non-Arab countries. Bearing this in mind any work dealing with this feature specifically is warmly welcome. This being the case. Islam Outside the Arab World is a book that falls into this category and thus is a welcome addition to the available literature.
