Abstract

This protocol provides the structure that will guide DFID’s Systematic Review No. 29, which addresses the question: ‘What is the evidence regarding the sustainable scale-up of low-cost private primary schools in South and West Asia, in particular in Afghanistan and Pakistan?’ It outlines the conceptual framework and methodology that will be employed throughout the review. The first section provides an explanation of the objectives for the review and defines key concepts and terms. Next, it discusses the background of low-cost private primary schooling in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Section 1 concludes by laying out the objectives of the review.
