Abstract

The design and application of medium voltage (MV) drives are associated with different requirements related to the line side and motor side of the drive. This paper presents a brief review of the existing challenges and requirements for employing medium voltage drives in various industries. Line side, motor side, and converter problems and requirements are described. The aim of the paper is to review the existing problems to allow understanding of how to deal with those challenges and requirements.
