abstract = "In this paper, a DC microgrid based on solar PV array and battery storage is simulated and a dual-mode control system is developed for grid-connected and islanded modes. The developed dual-mode control approach is based on model predictive control (MPC). The control system is flexible to allow operating the microgrid under different modes that include islanded and grid-connected modes. The considered microgrid is modeled and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software and different scenarios have been tested to verify the proposed principle.",
