Abstract

As a sustainable and cost-effective solution of energy supply in remote areas, standalone photovoltaic (SAPV) systems are widely used after the exploding development of photovoltaic cell industry in recent years. The photovoltaic panel has a non linear V-I characteristics which has to be taken into account while working with PV systems. In this work MATLAB /SIMULINK software is used for detailed modeling of a PV cell which is further modified to develop a PV array model. The model is used to run a three phase induction motor drive system. A comprehensive Matlab/Simulink model of a three-phase high performance induction motor drive system has also been developed. The complete component modeling is developed using ‘simpower system’ blocksets. To address the real time implementation issues, dead banding of the inverter switches are also incorporated in the simulation model. Constant Volt/Hz control of three-phase induction motor is investigated. This is followed by the real time implementation of the constant volt/Hz scheme in TMS320F2812 DSP platform. Excitation, acceleration and load rejection transients are investigated.
