Observing ESL writing instruction: A case study of four teachers

Abstract

This article describes a case study of four ESL writing instructors. After outlining the need to study writing instruction, it discusses the development of a coding scheme, the research context and approach, and the findings. Finally, it considers the implications of the study, including some exemplary classroom practices that may be worth emulating.
