Abstract
In 2015, the United Nations accepted a blueprint for sustainable development for the next 15 years. The document envisioned achieving 17
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as eradicating poverty,
gender equality, access to education, and clean water. With 9.5% of the
world’s population (around 700 million people) living in extreme poverty (UN, 2021), poverty eradication occupies the special attention of
the global community. Moreover, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
has forced additional 120 million people into extreme poverty, further delaying the achievement of the frst SDG. Thus, the goal to “end poverty in all its forms everywhere” remains on the agenda of governments
and multilateral communities (UN, 2021).
