N2 - The energy cost of large-scale datacenters is increasing rapidly as a result of the rising demands of user and application computation and transactions. A datacenter is expected to serve clients' requests and satisfy their constraints at a minimum cost and maintain the best performance according to the needs. To satisfy different requirements efficiently, there is a need to develop and evaluate efficient, cost effective, and green computing technologies. In this paper, an optimization approach using dynamic placement of virtual machines in cloud computing is presented. The approach is evaluated in simulation environment and compared with traditional semi-static methods.
