Abstract

We present a time-frequency interpretation of orthogonal sets used in a transmultiplexer configuration that plays an important role in many single and multiuser communication systems in this article. It's shown that once independently treated multicarrier modulation techniques like FDMA, TDMA and CDMA have their unified theoretical treatment using orthogonal transforms and filter banks. This treatment helps one to build a multicarrier modulation based communication system using optimally designed orthogonal function set or signatures.
