Abstract

This paper presents a comparison study and analysis of two sensorless methods for the detection of rotor position of the standalone doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Although, there are available several sensorless control methods for DFIG, the paper deals with two popular methods. These methods are stator flux based model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observer and rotor position phase-locked-loop (PLL) method. The discussed sensorless control methods are designed and simulated in Matlab&Simulink. The performances of both sensorless control methods are analyzed with respect to standalone operation. Compared study of their performances under startup process and at different speed conditions is also presented.
