Abstract

Nanoscience and nanotechnology have revolutionized the whole world. Materials with particle size less than 100nm is termed nanomaterial. High surface-volume ratio makes nanomaterials useful in various sectors. There are variety of nanomaterials and nanocomposites with unique properties. Nanomaterials with semiconducting properties are very good photocatalyst both under UV and visible radiation. In this article, we analyse the performance of variety of nanomaterials and their nanocomposites in degradation of dyes. Degradation mechanisms and the impact of the nanomaterial type on the mechanism are discussed.
