Research output: Book/ReportCommissioned reportpeer-review

Abstract

This post-war reconstruction project involves the rebuilding of the Nahr el-Bared Refugee Camp (hereafter NBC) on its original location following its destruction during an armed conflict in 2007. Established in 1949, the camp is located 16 kilometres north of the city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon. It covers an area of 196,303 square metres and before its destruction housed 20,542 Palestine refugees. The objectives of the project have been to rebuild the camp in a manner that preserves the social fabric through maintaining the camp’s pre-destruction neighbourhood layout, while delivering improvements to the urban environment.
