Abstract
The field of law and religion is dynamic and growing, but much recent literature on American constitutional issues has done little to alter established contours of debate. This is certainly not the case with Marc DeGirolami’s The Tragedy of Religious Freedom, an important and creative book that is as bold as it is subtle and well-reasoned. At its fullest, the book advances a profound reconceptualization of American law and religion. It deserves our attention.
