Abstract

The serials publication industry in developing countries is in its formative stages. Titles published in these countries are mostly popular in nature. Foreign titles from developed countries are very important, and the developing countries depend upon them for latest scientific information. This paper discusses current serials publication practices in developing countries. Efforts extended by libraries in procuring domestic and foreign publications are outlined for both printed and non-printed formats, including laser disc technology. A few suggestions are put forward for publishers in the West as well as for those in developing countries.
