Abstract

A selective and reliable high-performance liquid chromatographic assay for the simultaneous determination of diprophylline, proxyphylline and theophylline is described. The method involves a single extraction procedure followed by separation on an ODS reversed-phase column using a ternary solvent system. The assay is sufficiently rapid and sensitive to be applied for pharmacokinetic studies as well as for routine monitoring of patient's serum after therapeutic doses of the combined preparation. The practicability and utility of the proposed method is demostrated in a pharmacokinetic study on four healthy volunteers.
