Supporting value dependency for nested transactions in interbase

Research output: Book/ReportCommissioned reportpeer-review

Abstract

A value dependency of a transaction is a relation between a value writ· ten by an operation and a value read by a previous operation. In a nested transaction, value dependencies among operations of different subtransactions have significant effects on its execution. It is our goal in this paper to study these effects. The main contributions of this paper are (1) a general approach to value dependency control, (2) conditions of nested transactions under which value dependency control can be performed, and (3) a sufficient condition of value dependency for quasi serializability, a correctness criterion for heterogeneous distributed database systems.
