N2 - This study presents an in-depth analysis of recent advancements in the production of green and blue hydrogen and its utilization in road freight transportation (RFT). This paper assesses the advancement of hydrogen production projects globally, detailing their completion years, annual production capacities, distribution methods, collaborative partnerships among countries, and other relevant factors. Moreover, we have investigated the contemporary trend of involving the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs) in RFT, aimed at reducing carbon emissions in transportation. Through analysis of 569 articles retrieved from the Scopus database spanning 2015 to 2024, conducted using VOSviewer®, we observed a notable uptick in the utilization of HFCVs in RFT. Furthermore, we have listed the leading countries in hydrogen production and utilization. Through a synthesis of recent literature, this study provides valuable insights into the evolving landscape of hydrogen application in RFT, especially in the Gulf-Europe transportation corridor, to promote the adoption of hydrogen vehicles in transportation.
