Abstract

About half of sulfite liquor produced in pulp manufacture plants is nowadays utilized as commercial-grade reagents. Partial concentration of sulfite laquor aimed at reducing the cost of evaporation can be performed by the membrane methods. It proved possible in principle to realize the ultrafiltration method to produce two and three fractions from sulfite liquor. The variables of the fractionation-concentration process using two membranes (UPM-55 and UAM-200) are determined, they are: specific process efficiency, its change depending on the degree of filtrate bleeding and concentration limits of one- and two-stage process of fractionation-concentration. Gel-chromatographic analysis of the obtained fractions of sulfite liquor has proved the efficiency of ultrafiltration fractionation.
