Abstract

This manuscript presents the development of micro-optical sensors for high sensitivity magnetic field detection. The sensors were fabricated using PDMS-nanoparticle mixtures to coat optical fiber stems, resulting in a highly sensitive sensor capable of detecting weak magnetic fields. The calibration of the sensors was performed using a known magnetic field, and the resulting calibration curves related the output signal of the sensor to the strength and direction of the magnetic field. The proposed sensors demonstrated a sensitivity of up to 900nT and a resolution of 0.5pm. The study also explored the effects of permeability on the sensitivity of the sensors, where it was found that the permeability of the doped materials plays a crucial role in the sensitivity of the sensors. Furthermore, the high sensitivity of the optical sensors makes them suitable for integration into various IoT applications, such as smartwatches for medical and fitness purposes equipped with an emergency alert system. Overall, this work highlights the potential of micro-optical sensors for high sensitivity magnetic field detection and its potential applications in various fields.
